Strengthening Village Development through Plantation and Geo-tagging Initiatives
On a productive field visit to Thadipalem, Samagiri, and Yerravaram villages, our team focused on environmental sustainability and strengthening community institutions. The visit was marked by meaningful interactions with the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) members and local farmers, aiming to support both ecological and economic development at the grassroots level.
🌱 Plantation and Geo-tagging: A Step Toward Green Villages
As part of the Visakha Port Authority’s plantation initiative, saplings were distributed to selected farmers in the region. To ensure accountability and monitoring, I guided VWSC members through the geo-tagging process, enabling real-time tracking of plant growth and survival. A complete list of beneficiaries (farmers who received saplings) was also shared with the VWSC for reference and documentation purposes. This ensures transparency while building a sense of ownership among the community.
🏡 Yerravaram Village Meeting: Fostering Collective Action
Later in the day, a focused village-level meeting was held at Yerravaram with active participation from VWSC members. The discussion covered several key areas critical to rural development:
Geo-tagging of Saplings: Reviewing progress and ensuring all distributed plants are tagged correctly.
Village Water Fund: Strategies for effective collection and transparent use of village water funds.
FPC & MACTS Formation: Educating members on the benefits of Farmer Producer Companies and Mutual Aided Cooperative Societies to improve market access and collective bargaining.
Village Development Planning: Evaluating ongoing progress and aligning on upcoming goals for infrastructure, water management, and income generation.
